Arcosa, a native of the Philippines, and Paul Feng Chen, a native of China,
were ordained priests for the Oakland Diocese May 18 at All Saints Church
in Hayward.
Father Arcosa, 30, studied for the priesthood in Manila before transferring
to St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park in 2005. His pastoral training
included service at St. Ignatius Parish in Antioch and St. Charles Borromeo
Parish in Livermore.
Father Chen, 53, was not able to study to become a priest in China because
of religious persecution. He left his country in 1991, joined the Order
of the Servant of Mary in 1993 and transferred to the Oakland Diocese
after leaving the order in 2000. He recently completed his theological
studies at St. Patrick’s Seminary.
