Honoring a fallen airman
A memorial tribute to Senior Airman Jonathan Yelner sits in the courtyard of De La Salle High School in Concord to honor the 2002 graduate who was killed in Afghanistan on April 29. Yelner, 24, was fatally wounded when an improvised explosive device destroyed the vehicle in which he was traveling. While at De La Salle, Yelner was active in campus ministry and played on the school’s first lacrosse team.
