Oakland’s new bishop to be installed
at the cathedral on May 5

Bishop Salvatore Cordileone will be installed as Oakland’s fourth bishop during a noon liturgy, May 5, at the Cathedral of Christ the Light. Admission to the Mass will be by diocesan-issued pass.

Each parish will receive a small number of these passes to be distributed at the pastor’s discretion, said Father Paul Minnihan, cathedral provost. The remainder of the passes are reserved for clergy and invited guests.

Because of seating limitations within the cathedral, some attendees will be seated in an overflow area that will have a large screen broadcasting the liturgy.

A reception will follow the Mass.
