World’s developed countries are responsible for taking necessary steps to ease the burden climate change places on the planet’s poorest and most vulnerable people, said a European cardinal who will address the Sept. 22 U.N. Summit on Climate Change in New York.
 
Grieving a
fallen soldier

Military personnel form an honor guard as the body of Capt. John Hallett III is carried into St. Agnes Church in Concord for his funeral Mass, Sept. 5. Hallett, 30, was killed in Afghanistan Aug. 25 when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb. A graduate of Concord’s St. Agnes School and De La Salle High School and West Point Academy, he is survived by his wife Lisa, three children, his parents, and two brothers.
