Saint Mary’s College hosts seminar
on future of credit, business lending

Executives from three of California’s top financial institutions will address the future of bank lending during a Jan. 27 forum at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco.

Sponsored by the Graduate Business Alumni Chapter of Saint Mary’s College and moderated by Professor Tom Cleveland of the School of Economics at Saint Mary’s, the event will feature three panelists — Mechanics Bank CEO Steven Buster, U.S. Bank’s Northern California President Michael Walker, and Wells Fargo Executive Vice President for Commercial Banking Perry Pelos.

They will discuss what banks are doing differently in light of the economic crisis, what new products, regulations, restrictions, opportunities and risks are likely to arise, and the prospects of future credit and bank lending for businesses and individuals.

A question and answer session with audience members will follow the panel discussion.

The event is from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at 595 Market Street in San Francisco. Cost for Com-mon-wealth Club members is $8; $15 for non-members and $7 for students with valid ID. Tickets at: commonwealthclub.org or (415) 597-6700.
