Senior Mass
and college fair
The first Rite of Passage Mass specifically for high school senior students was held at the Cathedral of Christ the Light Oct. 4, coinciding with a two-day Catholic college fair that brought representatives of two dozen Catholic colleges to Oakland to recruit seniors. The liturgy was celebrated by Saint Mary’s College High School alumnus Father George Mockel, Class of 1967, who is vicar general for the diocese. ABOVE: Senior members of the Saint Mary’s Chamber Singers and Chorus who performed during the Mass are pictured inside the Cathedral, with adult leaders Craig Sutphin (bottom left), Saint Mary’s; Adrian Fulay (in robe), Salesian High School, Richmond; and Chris Trinidad (far right, second row from top); all three are religion teachers. BELOW: Several hundred students attended the college fair, including Rebeca Barrera (left) and her parents, Maribel and Trino, who spoke with Priscilla Muha (right), director of financial aid at Saint Mary’s College. ![]() josé luis aguirre
