| Religious freedom rally set for June 8
Staff report
Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally II is scheduled for noon, June 8 at the Federal Building, 90 Seventh St., San Francisco. This follows a well-attended rally March 23 at the same plaza, at which Most Rev. Salvatore J. Cordileone, bishop of Oakland, addressed the crowd.
Organizers from the Union City-based California Civil Rights Foundation released the list of the following speakers:
Rev. Jeffrey Keyes, CPPS, pastor of St. Edward's Parish, Newark
Eric Rassbach, Becket Fund for Religious Liberty
Jennifer Halbleib, Stanford Law Review editor
Eva Muntean, co-founder of West Coast Walk for Life
Victoria Evans, Respect Life coordinator of the Archdiocese of San Francisco
Antoine Lamar Miller, pastor, Chosen Vessels Church
Kevin McGary, Frederick Douglass Foundation
Marie Conway Stroughter, founder, African American Conservatives
June 8, 2012 is the 223rd anniversary of the day James Madison introduced his proposed amendments to the Constitution — which became known as the Bill of Rights — to the First Congress. One of those rights guarantees religious freedom.
The rally is sponsored by the California Civil Rights Foundation, which welcomes donations to cover its costs at 1684 Decoto Road, Suite 251, Union City 94587-3544. Online donations can be made at www.civilrightsfoundation. org/donate.html.
