World Day of the Sick
Archbishop Cordileone regularly participated at a special World Day of the Sick Mass on the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes in the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland for those who are ill and their caregivers. The events are organized by the Order of Malta, which serves the sick, and assists with many charities in the area, including a medical clinic in the cathedral center. Archbishop Cordileone also traveled with the Knights and Dames of Malta on two pilgrimages to Lourdes, the French Marian shrine, bringing with them several people who were ill or disabled.
