Anonymous donor sets up USF scholarships
Ten African American and Latino students from the East Bay who are attending the University of San Francisco this fall will receive financial help thanks to an anonymous donor.
The donor, whom the university identified as a 1967 graduate who lives in the East Bay, made a $1 million pledge to set up a scholarship fund that will award up to $25,000 to each of the 10 students for four years.
According to Mary Booker, financial aid provost at USF, these scholarships will make a "significant impact" on the amount of funds that students have to pay.
The scholarships are "definitely a blessing for the university and the students," Booker said.
