of marriage in 2018

Oct. 21, 10 a.m. Mass, followed by reception

The Cathedral of Christ the Light, 2121 Harrison St., Oakland

Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ

One of the happiest days on the calendar will be celebrated at the 10 a.m. Mass Oct. 21.

Couples who have been married 25 years or longer are cordially invited to attend Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ's, Mass on that Sunday morning. The liturgy will include a special blessing for the married couples.

Since the first of these biennial events in 2012, hundreds of couples — sometimes with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren beside them — have attended these Masses.

Bridal veils have been spotted in the crowd; as was a wedding gown made and worn by a bride of 50 years.

The anniversary Mass is part of the ministry of the Marriage and Family Life Office in the Department of Faith Formation and Evangelization.

Details on registration and fees for the reception that follows in the Cathedral Event Center will be available this summer at http://bit.ly/2DCCn9i. In the meantime, select a wedding photo for inclusion in the slide show that will be shown during the reception. As with all good wedding receptions, there will be cake.
